9th Annual Judith A. Hoffman Humanitarian Award

Patricia Pearson

Patricia Pearson is a woman whose life radiates faith, service, and unshakable resilience. She is the proud wife of Wardell Eugene Pearson Sr., “MiMi” to her 11 beautiful grandchildren, and a Christian servant leader committed to uplifting others with compassion and purpose.

In 2020, Patricia received a life-altering diagnosis: stage 4 lung cancer. Yet even in the face of uncertainty, she chose courage. With the extraordinary expertise and encouragement of her oncologist, Dr. Michael Nissenblatt, she stepped into the fight determined, hopeful, and grounded in her faith. Patricia often says that if there are angels assigned to us here on earth, Dr. Nissenblatt has certainly been one of hers. The gratitude she holds for him and for the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society runs deeper than words can express. Whatever she contributes to ACS’s research and programs will always be just a small reflection of the immense impact their work has had on her life and the lives of countless others.

Patricia is carried through this journey not by strength alone, but by the unwavering support of her loving family, friends, and her Abundant Life Family Worship Church, under the leadership of Bishop George and Pastor Mary Searight. Their prayers, encouragement, and constant covering have been a lifeline, reminding her daily that she is never fighting this battle alone.

Despite her diagnosis, Patricia continues to live a life filled with impact. She works full-time at Hewlett Packard Enterprise while running her growing publishing company, Coach Pat Publishing. Through this work, she published the journal “Healing with Grace,” a beautifully guided resource designed to support help others on a journey toward emotional renewal, resilience, and inner peace.

As a passionate advocate for community support, she serves on several nonprofit boards, including The Angel Network of Blue Grass, which focuses on senior care, and M.E.D.I. Helpz, which focuses on cancer awareness and health advocacy. Patricia uses her story to empower families and bring hope to those in crisis. Her life’s mission is rooted in service—showing up with grace, resilience, and faith for those who need it most.

Receiving this honor is deeply meaningful, as Patricia continues to fight, serve, inspire, and believe. Her journey is a testimony of God’s goodness, the power of community, and the unstoppable strength of a woman determined to live with purpose.
